Tween4STEAM Summer Camp

The Tween4STEAM Summer Camp is a dynamic, week-long educational experience in Malta that empowers Year 7 students (aged 11–12) through hands-on exploration in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Originally launched as Girls4STEM, the camp began as a focused initiative to encourage girls to pursue science. In 2024, it evolved into Tween4STEAM, embracing inclusivity and welcoming all tweens to explore the wonders of STEAM.

From Girls4STEM to Tween4STEAM

The transition from Girls4STEM to Tween4STEAM reflects a broader commitment to equity in education. While Girls4STEM successfully inspired young girls to engage with science, the new format opens the door for all students, regardless of gender, to collaborate, create, and innovate together.

What happens at the summer camp?

Each day is packed with exciting, mentor-led activities that spark curiosity and build confidence:

  • Science experiments that explore real-world phenomena including hands-on investigations in electromagnetism and chemistry in toiletries
  • Fieldwork with different focuses on Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics
  • Technology and coding workshops including a session on computational thinking using the interactive Micro:Bit tool
  • Creative STEAM projects that blend entrepreneurship with science
  • Students work in small groups, developing teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a fun and supportive environment.
