The Financial Literacy Challenge is a yearly initiative organised by the Home Economics Seminar Centre within the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes in collaboration with the Malta Bankers’ Association. Two separate challenges are organised; one for primary schools and another for secondary schools. These are offered as part of the European Money Week and Global Money Week.

The Secondary School challenge targets students in Year 7 to Year 11. It provides students with an opportunity to increase their financial empowerment by providing opportunities to work at the individual and group level on themes related to financial literacy.

The challenge is open to State, Church and Independent Schools as well as other sections, such as Learning Support centres. The challenge aims to promote awareness related to financial capabilities.
